BARBER Second Essay for Orchestra
BERNSTEIN Missa Brevis
BERNSTEIN Chichester Psalms
RACHMANINOFF Symphonic Dances

Experience an unforgettable evening of musical mastery with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and a program that fuses lesser-known gems with classical treasures. Delve into the depths of emotion with Barber’s evocative “Second Essay for Orchestra,” where lush melodies intertwine with poignant harmonies, painting a vivid sonic landscape. Then, be swept away by Bernstein’s powerful Missa Brevis paired with the exuberant Chichester Psalms, both showcase Bernstein’s characteristic exploration of spirituality, transporting listeners to realms both celestial and earthly.

Joining the ASO is guest soloist and countertenor Daniel Moody. Lauded for his “profoundly startling vocal resonance” (The New York Times) and “sweet and melancholy sound” (The Washington Post), Daniel Moody is celebrated for his interpretations of contemporary and baroque opera and as a soloist with orchestra. Moody is also a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory and has won several awards in the Metropolitan National Council Auditions, George London Competition, Handel Aria Competition, New York Oratorio Society Competition, and Russell Wonderlic Competition.
